Good Friday 26 Mar · Easter Monday 29 Mar 2027

Easter Benefit Payment Dates 2027

Any DWP or HMRC payment due between Friday 26 and Monday 29 March 2027 will be paid on Thursday 25 March 2027.

Key shift

Due Fri 26 Mar → paid Thu 25 Mar · Due Sat 27 / Sun 28 Mar → paid Thu 25 Mar · Due Mon 29 Mar → paid Thu 25 Mar. Normal schedule resumes Tue 30 Mar.

Easter is the longest spring break in the DWP calendar: two bank holidays with a weekend sandwiched between them. If your normal payday falls anywhere inside that four-day window, you won't have to wait until the offices reopen — you'll be paid on the last working day before the break, Thursday 25 March 2027.

Your Easter week, day by day: what lands when

  • Thu 25 Mar 2027 — adjusted payday for everything due 26–29 Mar. Normal Thursday paydays land today too.
  • Fri 26 Mar (Good Friday) — bank holiday, no BACS processing; anything due today was paid on Thu 25 Mar.
  • Sat 27 Mar — weekend, no processing; paydays due today were paid on Thu 25 Mar.
  • Sun 28 Mar (Easter Sunday) — weekend, no processing; paydays due today were paid on Thu 25 Mar.
  • Mon 29 Mar (Easter Monday) — bank holiday in England, Wales & NI, no processing; anything due today was paid on Thu 25 Mar.
  • Tue 30 Mar 2027 — normal schedule resumes. Anything due from today onwards arrives on its usual date.

What the four-day break means for your benefit

  • Universal Credit: any monthly payday landing 26–29 March moves to Thu 25 March. Your following payment keeps its normal monthly date, so that cycle runs a few days long.
  • PIP & Child Benefit (every 4 weeks): count 28 days from your last payment — if the result lands 26–29 March, it arrives on Thu 25 March instead. The cycle after that picks up its normal rhythm.
  • State Pension: Friday paydays (NI digits 80–99) due 26 March move to Thu 25 March, and Monday paydays (NI digits 00–19) due 29 March move to Thu 25 March. Other weekday cohorts — Tue (20–39), Wed (40–59), Thu (60–79) — are unaffected.

Due Fri 26 Mar Paid Thu 25 Mar
Due Sat 27 – Mon 29 Mar Paid Thu 25 Mar

Normal schedule resumes Tue 30 Mar.

Stretching one payday across the Easter gap

Treat the 25 March payment as two pay packets in one: it has to cover the holiday weekend and the longer wait until your normal April date. Set aside rent, bills and food money the moment it lands — school holidays and pricier Easter food shops catch plenty of people out. Funds usually clear between midnight and 2:00 AM on 25 March, so check your bank app first thing rather than worrying overnight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my benefits be paid early at Easter 2027?
If your due date is Friday 26, Saturday 27, Sunday 28 or Monday 29 March 2027, yes — you'll be paid on Thursday 25 March 2027, the last working day before the Easter break. Payments due Tuesday 30 March onwards arrive on their normal dates.
Why is there a 4-day Easter gap?
Good Friday (26 March) and Easter Monday (29 March) are both bank holidays in England & Wales, and BACS doesn't process at weekends. That turns four calendar days into a single adjusted payday on Thursday 25 March.
Does an early Easter payment mean less money?
No — the amount is exactly the same, it just arrives sooner. The catch is the gap until your next payment is longer, so divide the early payment across the extra days rather than treating it as a bonus.
Do Scotland and Northern Ireland follow the same Easter dates?
Good Friday (26 March) is a bank holiday across the UK and Easter Monday (29 March) applies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland — Scotland observes Easter Monday differently, so Scottish paydays due on the 29th should be confirmed against the GOV.UK regional calendar. This page models England & Wales.
